Buried Treasure and buried treasure maps (also known as Explorer Maps) were introduced in the Minecraft 1.13 Aquatic Update.
What Are Buried Treasure Chests?
Buried treasure are loot chests that can be found by using a Buried Treasure map (a type of Explorer Map). They can be found underground in caves, buried in beach biomes, in ship wrecks or other random locations in the overworld. Buried Treasure chests always generate facing east at chunk coordinate 9 on both the Y and X axis.
Buried treasure chest will contain a variety of items including: iron ingots, gold ingots, cod, salmon, leather tunic, iron sword, TNT, emeralds, Prismarine crystals, diamonds and many others.
Buried Treasure chests are the only way to find Heart of the Sea in Minecraft, which are used to make conduits for underwater conduit beacons.
Where To Find Buring Treasure Maps in Minecraft?
Buried treasure maps are a type of Explorer Maps that can be found naturally generated in Underwater Ruins (41-43%) and Ship wrecks (100%). They can also be traded for 13 Emeralds and a compass from Apprentice (iron) level Cartographer Villagers.
Buried treausure is identified on the map as a red X; as players explore their Minecraft world, the map will be filled and the treasure can then be found.
The Heart of the Sea can only be found in buried treasure chests and they can be used to craft conduits for underwater beacons.
Buried Treasure Acheivements (Advancements)?
Players will be able to unlock the "Treasure Hunter" and "Me Gold!" achievements (advancements) when they buy a treasure map off of a Apprentice (iron) level Cartogropher Villager and Dig up buried treasure in their Minecraft world.
