How To Reset The Nether in Minecraft (for the Minecraft 1.16 Nether Update)


How to reset the Nether Biomes in your Minecraft Java world.

The Minecraft 1.16 Nether Update has been released and you'll no doubt want to explore the new Crimson / Warped forests and Soulsand Valley Nether biomes! But you will have to generate new terrain in your Minecraft world in order to get to the new Nether biomes, so why not reset your Nether instead?

Resetting the Nether is quite complicated but this step by step tutorial will help you.

You cannot reset the Nether in Minecraft bedrock; you will have to start a completely new world (this includes Minecraft on Xbox, PS4, Mobile/Tablet and Nintendo Switch).


Before Resetting The Nether

Restting the Nether will delete your Nether entirely, so you may want to backup your Minecraft world before doing this. Before resetting The Nether in your Minecraft world, please make sure your player in not in The Nether and then make a backup of your Minecraft world.

 

How To Reset The Nether in Minecraft Java

  • Open Minecraft Java
  • Select Singleplayer
  • Select a Minecraft world and then select Edit
  • Select Open World Folder
  • Copy and delete the DIM-1 Folder (DIM = The End and DIM-1 = The Nether)
  • Open Minecraft 1.16 and The Nether should now be reset
